You should also compare like-for-like itineraries. A seven or eight-day climb will naturally cost more than a rushed five-day trek, but it will usually provide a much better acclimatisation schedule.

How Should You Choose a Kilimanjaro Trekking Company?
Start by deciding which route you want to climb and how many days you are prepared to spend on the mountain. Then request quotations from at least two or three companies using exactly the same route, duration, group size and accommodation requirements.
Check whether airport transfers, hotel nights, park fees, equipment, meals, drinking water and tips are included.
You should also ask how guides monitor altitude sickness, what emergency equipment is carried and whether your climb will be operated directly or subcontracted.
